India’s growing construction activities, especially in roads, highways and urban infrastructure sector has been fuelling the demands for crushing and screening plants. With India’s rapid growth and need to urbanize, there has been lot of urban infrastructure projects that stated simultaneously in recent years. These gave rise to the demand in the market for crushing and screening plants both from major players and small.
The country is lucky have a number of big companies such as Sandvik, Powerscreen, Proman, Metso, Nawa besides others operating in India market to meet demand. With the growing number of public-private-partnership (PPP) projects under BOT and BOOT, there has been pressure on construction companies to finish projects on time, delivering good quality. This has necessitated demand for advanced and innovative products which can optimise the output. Key crushing and screening plants players are continuously working on developing a better product. While the basic machinery used in crushing and screening remained fundamentally unchanged for many years, the industry has nevertheless become considerably more hi-tech. Sandvik which has been making crushers for over 100 years, is involved into continuous research & development of crushers and crusher control systems to optimize their performance.
“The current offering in jaw crushers comprises of latest series of jaw crushers which includes models specially suited for mobile applications. Strength has been increased and weight has been reduced for high production and low total cost. We have incorporated best of the old and applied the benefits of the latest technology,” says Simon Meester, President, Sandvik Mining and Construction, India, who took charge of Indian operation earlier this year.
Sandvik cone crushers are of advanced design with a small footprint and high capacity in relation to size. They have high reduction efficiency and give very good product shape. With hydraulically adjusted CSS (closed side setting), the option of automation, a choice of several different crushing chambers, and many other high-performance features, each model is versatile, user-friendly and highly productive. The Sandvik CS- and CH-series of cone crushers have a wide field of use as they can easily be matched to changes in production through the proper selection of crushing chamber and eccentric throw, the company says.
“Our cone crushers are ideal for secondary and tertiary crushing and the compact and easy-to-service design makes them a perfect choice for mobile installations. Our crushers provide automatic overload protection and can be equipped with our automatic setting system ASRi. This system optimizes cone crusher efficiency and automatically adapts the crusher to variations in feed conditions. By continuously measuring and compensating for crusher liner wear, ASRi allows you fully utilize crusher liners and schedule liner replacements to coincide with planned maintenance stops. ASRi also assists in keeping your crusher choke fed. This maximizes rock-on-rock crushing, which helps to optimize the quality of the final product,” Meester adds.
Sandvik has established itself as one of key players in autogenous VSI (Vertical Shaft Impactor) crushing.
Another key player, Powerscreen is strongly committed to continuous innovation in design and technology for new equipment and improvements. “In recent years more customers have been adopting mobile technology versus static plants, but are looking for high capacity when they are in transition. Powerscreen has introduced numerous new products to meet these demands including some of the largest mobile crushing plants available such as the Powerscreen1500 Maxtrak cone crusher, Powerscreen XA750S jaw crusher and the flagship Warrior 2400 heavy duty screen,” says Rajen Khoda, Director of Sales-South Asia and Middle East, Powerscreen. He says that emphasis is placed upon designing machines that give the greatest level of fuel efficiency while at the same time providing the greatest level of output.
