Tubular Dryers are applied for drying free- flowing supplies preferably with grain size 1 – 10 mm by continuous and high reduction of materials’ moisture.
The pretreated, free-flowing material(raw brown coal, difficult coal, cereal grains, sludges and comparable materials)with a water content of approximately 50-60% is dried to a water content of some 10-20% in tubular driers.
Tubular driers consist of a slightly inclined drum with rolled-in tubes inside the front and rear end walls as well as a standpipe with displacement journals on each sides. The drum revolves and moves the raw brown coal slowly via the tubes, which are equipped to help keep the coal in turning motion on its way by means of the tubes. The coal enters the tubes from a charging device in the feed finish with the tubes. The dry coal is discharged on to a chute at the far finish of the dryer. The steam required for drying passes through the axle in the charge end into the inner space with the drum. There it entirely surrounds the tubes using the coal. The condensate collects in receivers and leaves the drum by scoop tubes. The vapours produced by the drying coal in the tubes exit into the atmosphere through a stack and electric filter. The dryer axle is mounted in antifriction bearings.
The bearings are lubricated and cooled by gravity lubrication. A stepless drive program drives the drum by way of a toothed wheel rim at the charge finish with the dryer. The speed is optimized in dependence on the temperature of the end wall.
